A little about Chrissie's background

Namaste - (I bow to the light within you)

I have been practicing yoga for over 8yrs and am proud to be a pupil of the renowned Guru Michael Stewart - look him up on his website for wonderfully relaxing and inspirational retreats all around the world - www.lokavidu.com

  • I am a fully qualified Hatha Yoga teacher.
  • I have a qualification in Anatomy & Physiology to enable me to understand the benefits of yoga to the muscles and organs of the body.
  • I have a qualification in Stress Management so am able to link the benefits of yoga to day-to-day stresses of modern life and so equip us with coping mechanisms.
  • As a fully qualified Social Worker specialising in mental health and Dance Therapy my skills enable me to deal with  those struggling with social issues and dilemmas or challenging children.
  • I am insured and 'enhanced police checked'.
  • I have qualified with YogaBugs & Yoga'dUp to enable me to specialise in teaching 2 - 12yr olds. I teach children in schools, Theatre Schools and Health and Leisure Centres in the Suffolk and Cambridgeshire areas.
  • I teach adult yoga on a one-to-one basis, small groups in your own home or local small classes.
  • I teach disabled, assisted yoga and older people in day centres, residential homes or local venues - seated yoga or yoga in bed - my philosophy is that everyone of any ability can enjoy the benefits of yoga.
  • I update my First Aid qualifications yearly and have a qualification in CPR..

I've practiced Jazz Ballet as a student of the well-known Principal, Theresa Kerr at Bodywork Dance Studio in Cambridge for more than 30yrs! I am also a qualified Jazzercise Instructor. I have practised Pilates with Emma Kerr and Jeremy Topham Smith, Qi Gong, and Rhythmvmnt for many years and appreciate the many benefits gained both mentally and physically from all these various forms of exercise.

With a thirty year involvement with Bodywork Dance Studios and Performing Arts College in Cambridge where there's a Theatre School catering for about 500 children from the age of 3 who swarm into classes in all dance disciplines, singing and musical theatre, I am more than well equipped to pass on my love of yoga to 'little people'.

I'm really enjoying the opportunity to combine my social work, dance, singing and drama skills with my love of yoga to encourage children and adults to have a better awareness of the link between their physical and mental wellbeing whilst having fun, having the chance to stretch their imagination and just relax.

I also work with adults and students as a Stress & Relaxation Therapist (SNHS.Dip), combining the technique of yoga based stretches and dance therapy to re-align the body, encourage breathing techniques (pranyama) to lengthen the breath and reduce anxiety, relaxation sessions to enjoy a few precious moments of stillness, calmness and serenity and counselling to talk through problems and decide on coping skills to ensure a more positive future.
